Source: The Martin slab is very worn and the actual reading as listed was obtained from Mrs. John A. Pipkin's survey done in 1933 and located in the Warren County Register of Deeds office.

History note: Mary Turner's grandfather was Francis Scott Key, the author of The Star-Spangled Banner.

The church's history states "...an eye witness reported that during the Civil War the graves of many Confederate soldiers could be seen around the church."

"Under this marble placed here by his afflicted widow sleeps the remains of Dr. William F.B. Martin. Til the great morning of the resurrection His virtues were the only arts he was acquainted with and his conduct was exemplary in all the relations of life. He was born in Prince George County, Virginia, In the year 1811 and departed this life at his residence in Warren County on llth May 1851. In the hope of a blessed immortality through the mercy of God and the all sufficient sacrifice of Christ."
