Al believed that family came first and sometimes that family included sports. Al coached all sports at Boone Trail High School from the 1950s to 1974. He then coached at Cape Fear Christian Academy in Harnett County and finally assisted at Overhills High School in Spring Lake, NC. Al was a member of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame and he coached the famous Boone Trail High School versus Angier High School Basketball game on February 29 and March 1, 1964, which went for a record setting 13 overtimes before Boone Trail won 56-54 early on a Sunday morning. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Freedle. She worked for civil service on Ft. Bragg for 25 years. Marjorie played the piano at Ephesus Presbyterian Church in Lillington as well as other local churches for many years. Marjorie is survived by her 3 sons, Eric Freedle of Sanford, David Freedle of Lillington and Paul Freedle of West Jefferson; 2 daughters, Lisa Hinkle of Sanford and Catherine Tuggle of King; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Hinson of Kernersville. She was well known for her homemade chocolate pies. Mr. Lloyd W. Welborn, 86 of Lillington went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd Wesley Welborn; mother, Ferne Breeding Needham; 2 sisters, Joyce Ferne Mayer and Jo Ann McCrary all of Texas. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Carolyn, son, Wayne; granddaughter Mariah Dixon and 2 great-grandchildren, Leelan and Kyra Dixon of Lillington, grandson, Chance Medlin of Tarboro; 2 brothers, Willard (Butch) Needham and wife Pat, Jess (Ronnie) Needham and wife Faye both of Texas; 3 brothers-in-law, Carl Salmon of Sanford, Donald Salmon of Lillington and Michael Salmon and wife Edith of Lillington; numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from the Department of the Army with 30 years combined Army and Civilian Service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club in Lillington. He enjoyed playing golf and watching all types of sports. He was a people person who never met a stranger. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home in Lillington, NC. Funeral was held at Ephesus Presbyterian Church in Lillington.
