Location - off Brown Mountain Beach Rd, about 1.4 miles east of Hwy 181.

Directions: travel north on Hwy 181 out of Morganton (N. Green St.). As you exit town you'll cross the Catawba river immediately after the stop light at the intersection of Sanford Drive. Begin recording your mileage at the bridge and go north on Hwy 181 for 11.3 miles. As you approach this distance you'll see a church directly ahead of you (Smyrna Baptist Church). Take a right onto Brown Mountain Beach Rd. just before you get to the church. Go east on Brown Mountain Beach Rd. for 1.4 miles. At that point there'll be a dirt road on your left with a locked gate. You'll need to park in front of the gate and walk up that road for several hundred feet and be on the lookout for a unused road on the right that could be fairly overgrown. My Dad had someone grade that road out about 15 years ago and hauled in 3 loads of gravel but the gravel long ago sank into the ground. When you see that road follow it for about 100 - 150 feet and you'll be at the upper edge of the cemetery.
